 Jon Minei has been on the music faculty at El Camino College as a guitar instructor since the Fall of 2008.  He is an enthusiastic and innovative teacher.  His teaching philosophies stem from a deep desire to guide his students towards a life-long love affair with the guitar.   

In addition to being a committed educator, Jon Minei also owns and directs Opus Music of South Bay, a studio of high caliber instructors in several instrumental disciplines.  At Opus Music, he oversees over 30 private and classroom instructors and the musical develpment of over 350 students each week.

As a performer, Jon Minei made his concert premier at the Mirabelle Palace in Salzberg, Austria and also at Mozart’s Residence in Vienna at age 19.  Jon has worked with a variety of theater companies; performing as a pit musician for Man of La Mancha at the renowned 2001 Tony Award Winning Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, Utah.  David Nichols of the Los Angeles Times calls his playing “Superb!”  The late Poly Warfield of Backstage West described his playing as “… plangent strains of enchantment …” As a soloist he has performed extensively both locally and abroad.  Jon’s principle instrument is a 7-string classical guitar with extended lower registers, made by Michael Thames of Taos, New Mexico.
